Woman Arrested For Heroin Dealing After Nassau Overdose Investigation: Cops
BREAKING: The 21-year-old was arrested on Tuesday, police say.
A 21-year-old Ronkonkoma woman faces drug charges after being arrested on Tuesday, Nassau Police said.
According to police, an extensive investigation of a heroin overdose that occurred in Nassau was conducted by the Nassau/Suffolk Heroin Task Force. That investigation led to the arrest of Melanie Sterling, of Johnson Avenue, police said.
On Tuesday, Sterling met with an undercover detective to sell heroin, police said. Sterling was placed into police custody with the assistance of Nassau County Bureau of Special Operation officers. Police did not specify where Sterling was arrested.

At the time of her arrest, Sterling was found to be in possession of 10 bags of a substance believed to be heroin, police said.
Sterling is charged with third degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. She was arraigned on Wednesday at First District Court in Hempstead and released on $15,000 bail. She is due back in court on Sept. 12.
