Woman With BAC of .22 Percent Hits Two Parked Cars With 2-Year-Old Child in Backseat: Cops

The child was found not wearing a child restraint, police say.

LAKEVIEW, NY - A Roosevelt woman with open warrants was arrested after she hit two parked cars while driving drunk with her 2-year-old daughter in the backseat in Lakeview on Wednesday evening, according to Nassau Police.

Officers responded to Eagle Avenue for an auto accident at about 5:50 p.m.

Upon arrival they saw 30-year-old Kimesha McPherson outside of her car, which was facing westbound in the eastbound lane of Eagle Avenue at Thrush Avenue, police said.

An investigation revealed McPherson was under the influence of alcohol and had struck two cars that were parked on Eagle Avenue, police said.

Her 2-year-old child was sitting in the backseat of her car without a child restraint, police said.

The child was transported to an area hospital for evaluation due to the fact that she was not restrained in the car, police said.

McPherson was placed under arrest at the scene after testing .22 percent on a breathalyzer, more than twice the legal limit, police said.

She is charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated (child under 15) under Leandra’s Law, endangering the welfare of a child, DWI, DWI with a BAC over .08, aggravated driving while intoxicated (BAC .18 or above), and vehicle and traffic law violations, police said.

During the arrest process, it was discovered McPherson had open warrants for second degree assault, fourth degree possession of a weapon and endangering the welfare of a child for an incident that occurred in June of 2014, according to police.
