Woman Hit By Car And Killed While Crossing Nassau Street

A woman was killed after she was hit by a car while crossing Hempstead Turnpike in Elmont this morning, Nassau police said.

According to police, the 58-year-old woman was crossing Hempstead Turnpike at the intersection of Elmont Road when she was hit by a 2013 Dodge pickup truck that was turning on to Elmont Road.

The woman, whom police did not identify, was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead by doctors.

The driver of the truck remained at the scene, and was not injured. Police say the investigation is ongoing, but do not believe there is any criminality at this time.
