MASSAPEQUA, NY. — Massapequa school district officials said Wednesday afternoon that the secure lockout procedure put in place at Massapequa High School Wednesday morning had been lifted.
District officials confirmed that the lockout had been lifted at 2:43 p.m., adding that lockouts traditionally entail, "normal activities taking place within the buildings but no one can enter or exit campus."
The lockout was put in place after police responded to a possible assault near Bay Drive at around 8 a.m., police said. As of 2:55 p.m. that investigation was still ongoing.
“They went on a lockout for precautionary measures. Nothing to do with the school itself, the school is not in danger,” a public information officer told Patch.
