Massapequa House Fire: Police Officer Treated For Smoke Inhalation After Early Morning Blaze: NCFM

A police officer was treated for smoke inhalation after responding to an early morning fire in Massapequa, fire officials say.

MASSAPEQUA, NY — A police officer was treated for smoke inhalation after an early morning blaze on Nassau Street drew the response of 40 firefighters, Nassau County officials said.

According to the Nassau County Fire Marshal’s office, the fire broke out in the kitchen of a one-story home Saturday morning, with a 911 call coming in at 3:52 a.m.

Initial response to the fire came from the Massapequa Fire Department, with mutual aid from the Seaford Fire Department and a total personnel count of 40 firefighters. The fire was brought under control within 15 minutes with no firefighter injuries, authorities said, with the one police officer treated for smoke inhalation.

In the aftermath of the fire, the fire marshal’s office said there was moderate damage to the house, most of which was in the kitchen, and two adults displaced. The NCPD arson/bomb squad and NCFM’s office are both investigating the fire, officials said.
