MINEOLA, NY — A 22-year-old woman is facing a second-degree murder charge Tuesday after a meetup with a 28-year-old man that she knew ended with her stabbing him in the neck early Monday morning, police said.

Nassau County police said 22-year-old Massapequa resident Kristin Sculley would be arraigned Tuesday and charged with second-degree murder in connection with the stabbing.

According to police, Sculley and the man — who police did not identify Tuesday — had agreed to meet each other the night the incident occurred at the man's home on Beaumont Avenue in Massapequa, where he lived the basement. Police did not say if the two were romantically involved or if the meetup was a date of any kind.

At 1:30 a.m. Monday, police were called to the home and found the 28-year-old man with a stab wound to his neck, police said.

According to police, Sculley had "become angry with" the 28-year-old man at some time during the night and stabbed him while he slept. Police said the man awoke, climbed the stairs and attempted to get help stopping the bleeding from his parents after the stabbing. After his parents tried to stop the bleeding in their kitchen, the 28-year-old man became unresponsive and died in his father's arms, police said.

"No family should ever have to bear witness to their son being killed in that manner," Lieutenant George Darienzo said.

In the aftermath of the stabbing, a perimeter was set up around the house as police began an investigation that would lead to Sculley's arrest, police said. According to Darienzo, Sculley was found hiding in the "lower section of" the house, with a pocket knife that police now believe to be the blade used in the stabbing.

Darienzo said Sculley and the man had known each other for several years, but didn't say what the motive for the stabbing may have been. There were no drugs found in the home, but there was evidence of some drug use on the night of the incident, police said.

Tuesday, Sculley was walked to her arraignment in a white hoodie with two smiley faces on it, one in black and one in blue.
