Two-Alarm Fire In Massapequa Leaves Home Uninhabitable, Officials Say

A home in North Massapequa is unlivable for its three residents after a two-alarm fire Sunday afternoon, officials say.

NORTH MASSAPEQUA, NY — Three people are out of their North Massapequa home Monday after a two-alarm fire broke out there Sunday afternoon, fire officials said.

The Nassau County Fire Marshal’s office said the fire was called in at 1:21 p.m. Sunday, with first responders from the North Massapequa fire department finding the fire on the outside of a two-story house, extending into the house. The incident commander, fire officials said, then sounded a second fire alarm.

Firefighters from the Farmingdale, Levittown, Massapequa, Plainview, Seaford, South Farmingdale and Wantagh fire departments responded to the scene, bringing the total firefighting force to about 75 firefighters, officials said. The fire was brought under control in 40 minutes with no injuries reported, while the home was declared unlivable, officials said.

In the aftermath of the blaze, the fire marshal’s office and NCPD arson/bomb squad are investigating the cause of the fire, while local building department officials were also notified of the fire, officials said.
