MASSAPEQUA, NY — Lanes are closed in both directions on the Southern State Parkway after a dump truck wound up on its side, police said.
New York State police said officers were called to the Southern State Parkway near exit 29 at 12:49 p.m. Monday with reports of a Department of Transportation dump truck on its side.
In the aftermath of those calls, the left and center lanes on the westbound side of the parkway are closed, as well as the eastbound left lane, police said.
Police said the driver of the dump truck suffered minor injuries and did not say when the lanes might reopen. Police did not say how the dump truck had come to be on its side on the parkway Monday afternoon.
As of 2:40 p.m., police said the truck had been turned upright, but was still on the parkway with lanes still closed
