MASSAPEQUA, NY — Instead of customers, the iconic South Shore spot, All American Hamburger Drive-In, was surrounded by yellow police tape and police vehicles Monday morning.
Police responded to the Massapequa establishment on Monday morning for a burglary that occurred at 4:10 a.m. on Merrick Road, Nassau County police said.
It was determined that an unknown man broke the front glass door and entered the store, fleeing in an unknown direction, police said. The man was wearing camouflage cargo shorts, a black shirt, black sneakers, and a red face covering, according to police.
Known for its burgers and fries at low prices, the restaurant first opened in 1963 and has become a longtime South Shore staple – especially in the summer.
The restaurant owners and managers could not be immediately reached for comment.
Anyone with information regarding the incident can contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS, and all callers will remain anonymous, police said.
