1. Six Indicted After Nassau County Drug Trafficking Ring Operated Out Of Queens Apartment: DA (patch.com) — Massapequa residents are among those affected by an alleged large-scale fentanyl trafficking ring that prosecutors say funneled drugs from a Queens apartment into several Nassau communities. Investigators claim hundreds of sales were made, including in Massapequa, and six people now face serious charges that could bring decades in prison if they're convicted.
2. Oyster Bay honors 9/11 victims, adds four names to Wall of Honor (news12.com) — Residents from across Oyster Bay, including Massapequa, gathered at Tobay Beach to honor neighbors lost on 9/11 and those who later died from related illnesses. The town added four new names to its Wall of Honor, while Massapequa resident and survivor Cliff Gotlieb shared his memories of witnessing the attacks and praised the courage of first responders.
3. Drugs stamped with unique brand helped bust alleged traffickers on Long Island (abc7ny.com) — Massapequa is one of several Nassau communities where authorities say a branded fentanyl operation sold drugs, using "Bruce Banner" packaging that helped investigators trace the ring. A brother and sister from Queens, along with others, now face charges after police seized guns and large quantities of fentanyl allegedly destined for Massapequa and nearby towns.
4. Top 10 Long Island field hockey teams to begin the 2026 season (newsday.com) — Massapequa's field hockey team opens this season ranked ninth on Long Island after winning a fifth straight Nassau Class A title and reaching last year's Long Island championship. Despite graduating star Aliya Hassett, the Chiefs return plenty of talent and have started the new campaign at 1-1 against tough competition.
