At the latest Board of Education meeting, leaders reviewed graduation expectations, celebrated high rates of civic readiness seals, approved Hawthorne project upgrades, and highlighted student leadership training for seventh graders.
   

• Queens man indicted, five others charged in large-scale narcotics bust in Nassau (longislandpress.com) — Massapequa is among several Nassau communities where prosecutors say a Queens man and associates arranged hundreds of fentanyl and other narcotics sales, following a yearlong investigation. Officials describe a major trafficking operation tied to overdose scenes, distinctive drug packaging, and a large July seizure of fentanyl, cocaine, firearms, and cash in Queens.
