• Marine Crews Make Predawn Ocean Rescue (southshorepress.com) — Mastic Beach firefighters helped rescue four fishermen early Sunday after their boat struck a sandbar in rough Atlantic waters west of Moriches Inlet. Working with nearby departments, the U.S. Coast Guard, and the regional marine response team, they safely removed the occupants and highlighted how local volunteers now play a bigger role in South Shore water emergencies.
