2 Hurt, 1 Seriously in Yaphank Crash, Driver Charged With Reckless Driving
The single-car crash occurred Sunday evening.

Two people were hurt in a single-car crash in Yaphank Sunday evening. The driver has been charged with reckless driving, police said.
According to police, 55-year-old John DiOrio, of Mastic Beach, was driving 1993 Infinity Q45 westbound on Sunrise Highway, just east of Yaphank Avenue, when his vehicle veered off the road into the woods at 5:50 p.m.
DiOrio was transported by South Country Ambulance to Brookhaven Memorial Medical Center in East Patchogue for serious injuries. His passenger, Doreen Miller, 60, of Babylon, was transported by South Country Ambulance to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries.

DiOrio was charged with reckless driving and issued three additional summonses. He was issued a field appearance ticket and is scheduled for arraignment at a later date. The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing.
