Bellone Meets With Southwest Brookhaven Community Leaders to Discuss Local Issues
Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone met Thursday with representatives from southwest Brookhaven in the first of a series of Community Roundtables designed to discuss local issues.
Leaders of businesses, community organizations, religious groups, schools, Suffolk County police and others talked about ways to improve life for residents in Bellport, North Bellport, Yaphank, Gordon Heights and Medford.

Bellone said the meetings were designed to give the community a chance to outline its concerns. “If you want to do things that matter and are important and successful, we need to start with a community-based approach."
Group leaders spoke about the need to encourage community redevelopment, improve housing, work with the police to ensure the safety of residents and reduce crime.
