Body Found In Burned-Out Car On Long Island

The body was burned beyond recognition, police say.

UPTON, NY – A body was found in the driver's seat of burned-out car in a Long Island industrial park Sunday night, police said.

Suffolk County Police Seventh Precinct Patrol officers responded to a 911 report of a car fire on Ramsey Road in Upton at about 8:40 p.m.

The Ridge Fire Department extinguished the fire without incident before discovering a body burned beyond recognition inside the vehicle, police said.

The Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office removed the body. An autopsy will be performed to determine cause of death. Suffolk County Police Arson Section detectives are investigating to determine the cause of the fire.

Homicide Squad detectives are also investigating.
