A two-day community building workshop was held in a classroom at Patchogue-Medford High school recently.

Hendel Leiva organized the workshop and wrote his experiences from holding it in an article that ran on Long Island Wins.

Leiva said the project used a "Welcoming Reading Circle" technique using stories from Herstory Latinas Write/Escriben anthology.

The workshop was held in the classroom of Mrs. Reilly.

Leiva said that themes discussed in the workshop were bullying and positive ways for individual and group community outreach.
