Construction Of Bandshell Underway At Medford Veterans Park
The $35,000 joint project between Brookhaven Town and Suffolk County is expected to be completed by the end of July, officials said.

MEDFORD, NY — A bandshell under construction by the Town of Brookhaven’s Parks Department’s staff at Veterans Park in Medford is expected to be completed by the end of July, officials said.
The $35,000 project was secured through a Suffolk County Downtown Revitalization Grant and a Caithness Community Benefits Package grant.
Supervisor Ed Romaine called the park a center of activity in the community “and the new bandshell will certainly allow for more events.”

“This is another good example of how different levels of government can work together to benefit our residents,” he added.
The county contributed about half the cost of the project through two grants, including an $8,000 grant, as well as one for $10,000, according to the office of Suffolk Legis. Rob Calarco.

Calarco said that each year the Medford Chamber of Commerce hosts a summer concert series, and other community-oriented events in the park to benefit its residents, and the “sizeable cost of renting a mobile bandshell for these wonderful events has been a hindrance.”
“This worthwhile project will enhance the park and further encourage residents to use this location as a central gathering place in downtown Medford,” he said. “I look forward to enjoying this year's concert series on this new stage and thank Brookhaven Town Supervisor Ed Romaine, Councilman Neil Foley, and Councilman Michael Loguercio for their efforts in seeing this project to fruition.”
Councilman Foley said that residents asked for a bandshell at the park, and the town “took the steps to make it happen.”
“I thank Legislator Calarco for his help to secure the funding so we could get this done before the end of the summer,” he said.
Loguercio said that the new bandshell will be “a great addition to Veterans Park and the Medford community.”
“Thanks to the men and women of the Town Parks Department for their efforts to bring this project to fruition,” he added.
