Man Stole 90 Truck Batteries From Yaphank Moving Company: Police

The 51-year-old was arrested after an investigation that last several weeks, police say.

YAPHANK, NY - An Islandia man was arrested for stealing batteries from tractor trailers at Yaphank businesses last week, according to Suffolk Police.

Dennis Kravette, 51, was arrested on Friday following an investigation that lasted several weeks for the theft of 90 batteries and the attempted theft of 14 batteries within the Fifth Precinct, police said.

Kravette was taken into custody after he was caught stealing batteries from tractor trailers at Get Moving USA on 445 Sills Road at 1:05 a.m., police said.

He was charged with five counts of fourth degree grand larceny, one count fourth degree attempted grand larceny, seven counts of petty larceny, six counts of second degree auto stripping and seven counts of third degree auto stripping, police said.

Detectives also charged Kravette with fourth degree grand larceny related to a prior battery theft and fourth degree grand larceny for a previously reported theft of two credit cards, police said.
