Medford Woman Seriously Hurt in Crash on LIE

BREAKING: The woman was airlifted to the hospital Sunday morning, police say.

BRENTWOOD, NY – A woman was seriously injured in a single-car crash on the Long Island Expressway Sunday morning, Suffolk Police said.

According to police, 49-year-old Beverly Wynter, of Medford, was driving a 2005 Hyundai in the right lane on the eastbound LIE when her vehicle crossed all lanes and struck the center divider under the Washington Avenue overpass in Brentwood around 7:15 a.m.

Wynter was airlifted by Suffolk County Police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries, police said.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to call Fourth Squad detectives at 631-854-8452.
