Patchogue Man Struck, Killed by Car

A 58-year-old Patchogue man was struck and killed by a car in North Patchogue early Sunday morning, police said.

According to police, a 37-year-old North Patchogue man was driving a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am northbound on Route 112 when his vehicle struck Florencio Cardanas, who was walking eastbound across Route 112, at Sycamore Street, just behind two other people shortly after 2 a.m.

Cardanas was transported by North Patchogue Rescue to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue where he died from his injuries.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety inspection and the investigation is continuing. Anyone with information about this crash is asked to call the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552.
