Police: Man Drove Drunk With 14-Year-Old Daughter in Car

The 57-year-old was speeding on the LIE in Ronkonkoma with no tail lights when he was pulled over Sunday night, police say.

A Queens man was arrested on a felony DWI charge after police say he was drunk while driving with members of his family in his vehicle, including his 14-year-old daughter, on the Long Island Expressway Sunday night.

According to police, Suffolk County Highway Patrol Officer Robert Rilling observed a 2015 Honda CR-V traveling west on the LIE near Exit 60 in Ronkonkoma with no tail lights and exceeding the speed limit shortly before 11 p.m.

After stopping the vehicle, the officer determined that the driver, 57-year-old Ramon Garcia, was intoxicated.

Garcia, of Jackson Heights, was arrested and charged him with aggravated DWI with a child passenger 15 years old or younger, DWI and endangering the welfare of a child. Garcia’s daughter was released to other family members, police said.

Garcia was held overnight at the Third Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned Monday morning at First District Court in Central Islip.
