Port Jeff Station Woman Seriously Hurt in Three-Car Crash

Accident occurred in Selden Sunday afternoon, police say.

An 80-year-old Port Jefferson Station woman was seriously injured in a three-car crash in Selden Sunday afternoon, police said.

According to police, Augustina Daredakis was driving her 2001 Honda south on Dare Road and was attempting to make a left turn onto eastbound Middle Country Road when her vehicle was struck by a westbound 2011 Kia at approximately 12:30 p.m.

After impact, the Honda struck a 1989 BMW that was traveling east on Middle Country Road and was being driven by Antonio Santiago, police said.

Daredakis was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital where she is being treated for serious injuries, police said. The driver of the Kia, Kimberly Tarantino, 23, of Selden, was also transported to Stony Brook University Hospital where she was treated for non-life threatening injuries. Santiago, 70, of Selden, was not injured.

The vehicles were impounded for safety checks and the investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed or has information on this crash to call the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652.
