Police ID 3 Killed, 4 Hurt In Long Island Crash
Two men were pronounced dead at the scene after being ejected from a car. Among the injured: a 1-year-old boy and an 11-year-old boy.

MEDFORD, NY – Suffolk Police have released details on a horrific crash Monday afternoon that left three people dead and four others injured.
According to police, 20-year-old Dominick Lopez was driving his 1995 red Honda Civic south on Station Road, south of Sills Road in Medford, when Lopez apparently lost control of the car, crossing the double yellow line and colliding with a northbound 2016 Nissan Pathfinder at about 4:25 p.m.
Lopez, of Shirley, and his front seat passenger, 23-year-old Derek Buffa, of Mastic Beach, were ejected from the Honda. They were both pronounced dead at the scene. A rear seat passenger in the Nissan, 67-year-old Aida Cardenas, of Selden, was transported by South County Ambulance to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center where she was pronounced dead, police said.

The driver of the Nissan, 41-year-old Hugo Atiencia and his 33-year-old wife, Dianna Arizago, both of Bellport, were transported to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries. The couple’s 1-year-old-son, a rear passenger in the SUV, was transported by Medford Volunteer Ambulance Co. to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was being treated for non-life threatening injuries. The couple’s 11-year-old son, also a rear passenger, was transported by Suffolk County Police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was also being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to call Fifth Squad detectives at 631-854-8552.
