Special-Needs Students Hurt in Crash Between Mini-Bus, SUV

Crash occurred in Farmingville Friday morning. Students and three others suffered minor injuries, police say.

A mini school bus bound for Sachem’s Samoset Middle School collided with an SUV in Farmingville Friday morning, injuring five people, including two special-needs students, police said.

The crash occurred at about 7:50 a.m. at the intersection of Portion Road and Leeds Boulevard. Police said the bus was traveling westbound on Portion Road and the SUV was heading southbound on Leeds Boulevard at the time of the crash.

Two special-needs students on the bus, as well as the bus driver, a bus matron and driver of the SUV were taken to Stony Brook University Hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
