Suffolk Federal's Eastport Branch Supports Helping Makes U Happy

In an effort to support the charitable work of local organizations that serve the areas of Suffolk Federal branch locations, the credit union has identified nonprofits to provide financial support to. In Eastport, Branch Manager Debra Castro presents a $1,000 contribution to Helping Makes U Happy.

“Keith Caputo, Founder and Board Member of Helping Makes U Happy, is the perfect example of how one person can make a difference in someone else’s life,” said Debra Castro, Branch Manager of Suffolk Federal’s Eastport branch. “He is committed to the several programs offered through the agency including scholarships, birthday clubs for homeless children, fundraisers, local veteran support and feeding programs for those in need, and hopes to establish a center where people can come together and experience the happiness of giving back and helping others. Suffolk Federal believes in Keith’s mission and is proud to support it.”

“I love helping...it makes me happy, it makes the people we help happy, and if just one person looks at what I do and says, 'well if he can do it, I can too,' then I can say maybe I've made a difference,” said Caputo.

Helping Makes U Happy is a nonprofit public charity founded by a young man with Down’s Syndrome named Keith Caputo. He was fortunate to have had the experience of being mentored by a special man who was committed to helping others, and this is Keith’s way of paying it forward. Their mission aims to demonstrate how every human is capable of making a difference through volunteering; and inspire others to make a difference in the community with the belief that doing good not only helps the lives of the less fortunate, but their own lives as well.
