Taxi Driver Arrested After Police Chase
The taxi driver was off-duty when he refused to pull over Tuesday afternoon, police say.
An off-duty taxi driver was arrested after leading police on a low speed chase Tuesday afternoon, Suffolk Police said.
According to police, a Sixth Precinct police officer observed a man driving a taxi recklessly on eastbound Granny Road near Kettles Lane in Medford at 1:10 p.m. and attempted to pull over the driver.
The man fled in the 2005 Plymouth Voyager, owned by RIB Transportation, and officers initiated a pursuit, police said.

Officers pursued the man at a low speed and used stop sticks, once on Mill Road in Medford and again on William Floyd Parkway in Shirley, police said. The man continued to drive the vehicle on rims to his home on Revilo Avenue in Shirley, police said.
The man, who police did not identify, was arrested and charged with unlawful fleeing a police officer. He was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for psychiatric evaluation.
