While You Were Away: Songs of WWII

Join us this Sunday at 2:00pm for While You Were Away: Songs of WWII, presented by Dr. Diane Cypkin

Don’t Sit Under the Apple Tree (With Anyone Else But Me)”,” “You’ll Never Know,” “I’ll Walk Alone,” “Yours,” “Chatanooga Choo Choo,” “The Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy,” “Besame Mucho,” “I’ll Be Seeing You”— these are just some of the many incomparable love songs exceptionally popular during World War II. Why were they so popular? Who wrote, played, and sang them? Who danced and “romanced” to them? What made them unforgettable both on the fighting and home front? This one woman concert/lecture delves into it all and in the process reveals how the “Spirit” of the time was uplifted by these songs.

All are welcome. No registration required.
