2 Men Charged With DWI After Crash That Critically Injures Woman

A 25-year-old woman is in critical condition following the crash on Long Island Saturday morning, police say.

BELLMORE – Two men were arrested after a crash that critically injured a 25-year-old woman on Long Island Saturday morning, Nassau Police said.

According to police, 27-year-old Vincent Milo, of Massapequa, was driving north on Bellmore Avenue in a 2006 Nissan when his car struck a a 2002 Chevy that was parked legally in the vicinity of Marion Street in Bellmore around 4:32 a.m.

Andrew Ball, who was following the Nissan in his 2017 Volkswagen, stopped his car and offered help to Milo, "who was known to him," police said.

When Seventh Precinct police officers arrived on the seen, they observed Milo and Ball, 30, standing outside the Volkswagen and a woman, who had been a passenger in Milo's car, lying injured in the front passenger seat of Ball's car, police said.

The woman, who police did not identify, was transported to a local hospital and is being treated for a severe head injury. She is listed in critical condition.

Milo is in the hospital being treated for multiple facial lacerations.

An investigation revealed that Milo and Ball were both operating their vehicles under the influence of alcohol, police said. Ball, of upstate Salem, was also in possession of a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana and a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine, police said.

Milo is charged with DWI, second degree assault, second degree vehicular assault and second degree reckless endangerment.

Ball is charged with DWI (prior conviction within 10 years), unlawful possession of marijuana and criminal possession of a controlled substance. He will be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead Sunday.
