A1 Transmission Makes a Home in Merrick

The business re-located to Merrick from Baldwin.

When Jerry Koenig's uncle died tragically, the business they were running in Baldwin was immediately changed for good.

Looking for a new location, Koenig found it at 153 Sunrise Highway in Merrick and opened up shop in October.

"I came to Merrick because this was the only location that I found was feasible for this type of business, but now that I am here, I wish I came here earlier," he said.

Koenig explained that the clientele is better and that everyone has been so nice since he has been in town.

His wife, Peggy, agreed. "It's a very welcomed feeling to come here. The Chamber is very personable and they care. You don't find that anymore," she said.

Legis. Dave Denenberg said that it was very promising to see A1 beginning to flourish in the town, as well as to be able to see other businesses come into the town as well.

"It is very encouraging to see businesses opening and expanding in Merrick. More than anything, jobs are coming to the area and we are expanding our tax revenue base. It's also good to see a wide array of businesses opening in Merrick," he said.
