Absentee Ballots Available at North Merrick Library

Absentee ballots for the upcoming North Merrick Public Library Trustee Election will be available beginning Tuesday.

Applications for absentee voting may be requested from Joanne Long, District Clerk or the North Merrick Public Library business office in person, by writing, or phone.  

The District Clerk’s office is opened Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., and is located at the Harold D. Fayette School at 1057 Merrick Ave. in North Merrick.  

She can be reached by calling 516-282-1802. The NMPL business office hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The North Merrick Library is located at 1691 Meadowbrook Rd. in North Merrick and can be reached at 516-378-7474.

To be eligible for an absentee ballot, a resident must be registered to vote in the District or General Election Rolls and meet one of the following criterions:

  • A patient in a hospital or unable to appear personally at the polling place on such a day because of illness or physical disability.
  • Duties, occupation, business or studies will require the resident to be outside of the country or city of their residence on such day.
  • Absent due to vacation.
  • Detainment in jail.
Absentee ballots must be returned by 5 p.m. the day of the vote, April 24, 2013 to the North Merrick Public Library or District Clerk’s office.

Personal Voter Registration will be held April 17 from 4-8 p.m. at the North Merrick Public Library. Residents may register to vote in the office of the District Clerk from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Harold D. Fayette School until five days before the vote.
