50 Firefighters Rush To Burning Home In Roosevelt, Fire Marshal Says

Firefighters from six departments banded together to extinguish a fire at a two-story home in Roosevelt Monday, authorities say.

ROOSEVELT, NY — A combined crew of about 50 firefighters was rushed to a two-story home in Roosevelt Monday afternoon after a fire alarm was raised at the home just after 2:30 p.m., authorities said.

The Nassau County Fire Marshal said the alarm was raised at 2:32 p.m. in the private dwelling on Lincoln Avenue, with Roosevelt Fire Department first on the scene and mutual aid coming from Baldwin, Hempstead, Merrick, North Merrick and Uniondale Fire Departments to bring the blaze under control within 45 minutes.

Despite dozens of firefighters being on the scene to extinguish the blaze, fire officials said there were no injuries reported. That said, the fire left its mark elsewhere: Seven adults who live at the home were displaced, and are being put in contact with the Red Cross, the fire marshal’s office said.

In the aftermath of the fire, the fire marshal and NCPD arson/bomb detectives are investigating its cause, officials said.
