MERRICK, NY — Police are searching for a burglar this week after reports came in of someone breaking into Chatterton Elementary and stealing electronics, police said.
Nassau County police said a person broke into Chatterton Elementary through an unlocked rear window just before 11 p.m. Sunday night, causing $300 of damage to the window screens in the process. After entering the building, the burglar stole 26 Apple iPads, left the building and fled the scene to an unknown location, police said.
In the aftermath of the incident, police have requested that anyone with information on the burglary call crime stoppers at 1-800-244-Tips or call 911.
