VIDEO: 2 Suffer Minor Injuries In Merrick House Fire: FD

MERRICK, NY — Two people suffered minor injuries after a Merrick house fire on Tuesday night, fire marshals said.

The North Merrick Fire Department responded to a two-story home on Merrick Ave. at 10:07 p.m., the Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office said.

First firefighters on scene found an active fire in the attic and on the second floor of the house, fire marshals said.

After an hour and a half, the fire was brought under control with the help of about 75 firefighters and mutual aid assistance from Merrick, Bellmore, North Bellmore, Roosevelt, East Meadow fire departments and Bellmore-Merrick EMS, fire marshals said.

Two people were displaced from the home, which is now deemed uninhabitable.

According to fire marshals, the two minorly injured people did not want medical treatment or transport.

Fire officials said all firefighting operations were under the command of Chief Fasano.

Red Cross and the local building department were notified. The fire is under investigation by the NCFM's Office and the NCPD Arson/Bomb Squad, fire marshals said.
