• Students at Ready Set Grow Learning Academy celebrate summer learning in Freeport (liherald.com) — Families from Merrick and nearby communities sent their children to Ready Set Grow Learning Academy in Freeport, where students capped off a summer of science fairs, math challenges, and robotics with a fun-filled "Carnaval" celebration. Kids enjoyed a magic show, face painting, and an ice cream truck as a reward for their academic efforts, while the academy looks to expand its reach to more local families.
   

• Town of Hempstead honors 9/11 victims and first responders (liherald.com) — A Merrick resident, Debbie Danese, was among the many Long Islanders attending the Town of Hempstead's 25th annual 9/11 sunrise memorial at Point Lookout, held to honor victims and first responders. The ceremony drew more than 2,000 people, featured clergy from nearby communities, and closed with attendees casting carnations into the water in a quiet tribute.
