• New York Cookie Chain Suddenly Closes All Stores (newsbreak.com) — Residents in Merrick just lost a local dessert spot, as Chip City permanently closed its cookie shop at 2174 Merrick Road along with all its other locations in New York, New Jersey, and Texas. The sudden shutdown, tied to financial disputes and economic pressures, left employees without warning and ended the chain's rapid expansion that began in Queens in 2017.
   

• Electrical fire breaks out at Bellmore home on Saint Marks Avenue (liherald.com) — Merrick and North Merrick firefighters were among several departments called to help Bellmore crews knock down an electrical fire in a Saint Marks Avenue home Sunday night. The blaze, which started in an exterior electrical panel near Merrick Road, filled the house with smoke before being quickly brought under control, with Bellmore-Merrick EMS and local ambulances handling medical coverage.
