Morton Tannenbaum, former Kennedy Principal, Passes Away

Morton Tannenbaum, a longtime Long Island secondary science teacher and former principal of Kennedy High School, died at Long Beach Memorial Hospital on Feb. 12 after a brief illness. He was 84. 

He briefly taught science at Castle Jr.-Sr. High School in Kaneohe, Hawaii and Jericho High School, before accepting an appointment as science department chair and district science curriculum coordinator in the Pearl River, N.Y., school district in July 1966. 

He began his administrative career by serving as principal of Beacon High School in New York from 1971-72, before moving to Kennedy High School in Bellmore as principal. He  remained there until his retirement in 1984.
