Our organization provides essential support to Ukrainian Humanitarian parolees through the Ukraine Supplemental Appropriation to Resettlement Agencies (USARA) Program. Through USARA, we help individuals and families achieve stability, economic independence, and successful integration into the community. We serve Ukrainian citizens paroled into the U.S., as well as non-Ukrainians who resided in Ukraine and were paroled into the U.S. between February 24, 2022 and September 30, 2024. Walter Mintz, a valued board member of the Merrick Library, has passed away. The funeral will be at 12 p.m. on Thursday at Gutterman's Memorial Chapel in Rockville Centre. The family will be sitting Shiva at home in Merrick from Thursday to Monday and in Chevy Chase, Md. next Tuesday and Wednesday.  Mintz was a passionate reader and seeker of knowledge. In that pursuit, he was elected to and served on the Merrick Library Board for twenty years, fifteen as president.  During that time, he led initiatives to expand community programming, to introduce new technology and to construct a state-of-the-art building.  To celebrate his achievements and to honor this legacy, the family has asked that donations be directed to the Merrick Library, Walter Mintz Fund.
