Dog Skull, Remains Found Buried in Nassau Preserve

Police are asking for help in finding whoever dumped the remains in the woods.

ROOSEVELT, NY - A dog skull and other remains buried in plastic bags were found at Roosevelt Preserve on Monday, according to Nassau Police.

A passerby noticed what appeared to be an animal skull near the wooded area east of Prospect Street, police said.

An investigation determined that the remnants were that of a dog.

Additional canine remains, which were buried, found in plastic bags and openly strewn about in various stages of decomposition, were collected for further processing, police said.

Detectives request anyone with information regarding these incidents and their origins to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-Tips. All callers will remain anonymous.
