Bellmore Merrick Central High School District's - Calhoun High School On Tour Company presents Mary Poppins March 21st, 27th, and 28th at 7:30 PM in Calhoun High School's auditorium.

The On Tour Company will be one of the first high schools on Long Island to produce Disney and Cameron Mackintosh's Mary Poppins

Fresh from Broadway and the National Tour, Disney & Cameron Macintosh’s Mary Poppins is the musical based on the stories of P.L. Travers and the Walt Disney Film, with original music and lyrics by Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman, book by Julian Fellowes and new songs and additional music and lyrics by George Stiles and Anthony Drewe. The eight children’s books by P.L. Travers first introduced us to the magical nanny who floated into the lives of the Bank’s family at 17 Cherry Tree Lane from 1934-1988.

Mary Poppins’ encounters with chimney sweeps and other unforgettable characters were re-envisioned in the 1964 Walt Disney film starring Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke. The Broadway production is a hybrid of the film and the books mixing original designs and choreography with the beloved story and songs. Mary Poppins and Bert help us learn to take our medicine with a spoonful of sugar, find the silver lining in every situation, and realize that anything can happen if you let it. This iconic pair brings order to the Banks household, takes Jane and Michael out on magical adventures, and dispenses sage advice, while stepping in time on the rooftops of London. The score features those classic songs including “A Spoonful of Sugar,” “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious,” “Jolly Holiday,” “Let’s Go Fly a Kite,” “Step in Time,” “Chim Chim Cher-ee,” along with a handful of brand new songs.

The talented cast features Jamie Glickman as the practically perfect Mary Poppins, Robert Gallo as the jack-of-all-trades Bert, Steven Bennett as the strict and stern George Banks, Elizabeth Earle as the loving yet distracted Winifred Banks, Alex Werthauer as the excitable and naughty Michael Banks, and Brittney Allen as the high-spirited and bratty Jane Banks.
