Bellmore, Merrick School Budget Vote, Board Election Tuesday

What you need to know.

Bellmore and Merrick residents will head to the polls Tuesday to vote on the proposed 2015-16 school budget and elect school board candidates.

Merrick

The proposed budget of $46,911,578 is a 2.42 percent spending increase over the current year and includes a 2.4 percent hike in the school tax levy.

In addition to the proposed budget, incumbent Pamela Banks, incumbent Nancy Kaplan, and Linda Wilk are running for two seats the Board of Education.

North Merrick

The proposed budget of $29,936,000 is a 1.42 percent spending increase over the current year and includes a 1.11 percent hike in the school tax levy.

In addition to the proposed budget, incumbents Neil Brown and Steve Enella are running unopposed for the Board of Education.

North Merrick will also vote on a bond referendum to cover basic infrastructure upgrades and improvements as well as school safety. Read more on the school website here.

Bellmore

The proposed budget of $33,582,394 is a 1.01 percent spending increase over the current year and includes a 2.27 percent hike in the school tax levy.

In addition to the proposed budget, incumbents Marion Blane and Brian Desmond are running unopposed for the Board of Education.

Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday at the Reinhard Early Childhood Center. Get more information on the school district website here.

Bellmore-Merrick

The proposed budget of $142,802,333 is a 2.43 percent spending increase over the current year and includes a 2.05 percent hike in the school tax levy.

Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Reinhard Early Childhood Center, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Lakeside School, 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Newbridge Road School, and 2-10 p.m. at Fayette School. Get more information on the school district website here.

North Bellmore

The proposed budget of $53,303,507 is a 1.94 percent spending increase over the current year and includes a 1.75 percent hike in the school tax levy.

In addition to the proposed budget, incumbent Nina Lanci and Melissa Cmar-Grote are running unopposed for the Board of Education.
