Bicyclist Dies After Being Hit by Car in Freeport
The car was being driven by an 88-year-old man, police say.

FREEPORT, NY - A bicyclist died after being hit by a car in Freeport on Saturday night, according to Nassau County Police.
While traveling eastbound on Sunrise Highway in his 2013 Lincoln MKZ, just east of Benson Place, an 88-year-old male driver was involved in a collision with a bicyclist who was crossing Sunrise Highway from north to south at about 8:12 p.m., police said.
The unidentified male bicyclist sustained multiple trauma injuries and was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead, police said.

A brake and safety check was performed at the scene and the car was released to the owner, who had the car towed.
No other injuries were reported.

The accident, which was deemed to be non-criminal, continues to be investigated.
