We Fix 4 You, a new electronic repair shop, located at 50 Merrick Ave., just might be able to assist you. Opening their doors on Dec. 26 of last year, this shop boasts the skills to tackle any tech problem that ails you.

We Fix 4 You owner, Marcelo Carrillo, recently spoke to Patch about tinkering with technology for a living in Merrick.

Tell us about what kind of services you offer there at We Fix 4 You.

We do computer and cell phone repair services. We specialize in Apple products, so many times we’ll repair iPhones or broken screens, or Mac computers. We do services for small businesses, so we do network installation and support, as well as desktop support. We can clean up viruses, help someone in setting up a system – it depends on what the client is looking for.

If someone was interested in having you build a computer for them from scratch, is that something you do?

Yes, we can build and customize computers for whatever the client needs.

Tell us about your background and experience in electronics and computers.

I started working for a government agency around five years ago doing networking, computer repair, programming and desktop support. All things relating to what I do now. Overall, I have seven years of experience working in the field.

What made you want to go out and start your own business?

I got laid off, along with 5,000 other people. I was looking for work, but it was really hard to find a job in this tough economy, so instead of continuing to spend money from my savings, I decided to open my own business with my wife and see how that goes.

As a new business in the area, what would you like to be known for?

We are very flexible and affordable. We try to be very honest and to educate the customers and clients about the technology and what things they need to know.

Is the cartoon character in your sign supposed to be you? There seems to be a resemblance.

Yes, it’s me! I personalized myself in a cartoon way!

What do you like about owning and operating a business in the Merrick area?

I love the Merrick area. I love the community. I think they’re very supportive and friendly. It’s very safe, also. Since we came here, the Chamber of Commerce approached us and tried to help us and invited us to be a part of their community. I like it.
