JV Football

The JV Colts dropped their season finale 21-7 on Saturday morning against the Wantagh Warriors.  Trailing 14-0 late in the second quarter, the Colts struck with their longest pass scoring play of the season when Brian Downey hit Tony Cardinal with a crossing route and the speedy sophomore outran a series of Wantagh defenders the final 30 yards to complete the 46-yard scoring strike (completing the Colts' scoring for the day by also converting the extra point).

While solid defensive play was recorded by Jake Nestola (with a series of tackles and a 3rd quarter fumble recovery), Jenard Rosemond (a second quarter fumble recovery at the Colts 15-yard line), Steven Valentino (a deflected pass in the first quarter) and Matt Pilotti (a first quarter interception) and Vincent Pellegrino shows signs of future success with the Colts with some fine open field running, the JV Colts could not solve the riddle of the stout Warriors defense.  The JV squad concludes its season at 2 -6.

The Colts dropped a 6-1 match to Long Beach last Wednesday.

Girls Cross-Country

The Colts' girls cross-country team placed fifth out of 10 teams competing in the Conference II girls conference championships conducted at Bethpage State Park on Saturday. The XC squad returns to action with the county championships on Saturday, Nov. 6 as the runners compete for spots in the upcoming state championships.  Good luck to the girls cross-country team at counties!

Boys Cross-Country

The juggernaut that is the Calhoun boys cross-country team steamrolled over their Nassau County competition in the Conference II boys conference championships held at Bethpage State Park on Saturday.

The Colts registered an astonishingly low 21 point team score (besting their nearest competitors in the 10-team competition by 49 points) and places an equally amazing 6 runners among the 9 best times in the conference (2nd place James Panetta at 16:12.5, 4th place Tim Campbell at 16:41.7, 5th place Brendan Abrams at 16:59.1, 6th place Nicholas Macaluso at 16:59.5, 8th place Casey Bader at 17:00.9 and 9th place Kenneth Woo at 17:18.5).

More of the same is expected during this week's county championships, after which the Colts runners will undoubtedly be sending representatives to the state championships.  Congratualations to the Colts boys XS squad for their dominating performance in the conference championships and good luck at counties and states!
