Car Pulled Over With Loaded Gun: Police

The 30-year-old Roosevelt man faces charges of criminal possession of a firearm, detectives say.

ROOSEVELT, NY — A man, who failed to stop for a red light in Roosevelt, was pulled over by police. Upon investigation, a loaded handgun was found under the passenger seat of the 2016 Mercedes Benz, police said.

Justin Smith, 30, was placed into custody without incident, detectives said.

Police said the vehicle, with dark-tinted windows, was traveling north on Nassau Boulevard at approximately 10:20 p.m. on New Year's Eve, police said.
