October 28, 2014 – MERRICK, NY – A Long Island law firm with politically-connected offices in Albany made malicious allegations against Dave Denenberg. The allegations came in the last weeks before the election. Dave’s opponent, Michael Venditto, has been relentlessly circulating vicious advertisements against Dave Denenberg, presenting these false allegations as truths. These attacks are an attempt to get Dave off the ballot for state senate and falsely lead the people into believing that this is a one candidate election.

This comes on the heels of a GOP attempt to redistrict Dave Denenberg off the Nassau County Legislature. Legislator Denenberg’s constituents, both Republicans and Democrats, poured into the Legislative Chambers and demanded that Dave Denenberg stay on the Legislature. Their blatant political attack on the most popular legislator in Nassau County was exposed.
Now once again the community speaks out and supports Dave Denenberg for New York State Senate.
The effort began with a We Want Denenberg for Senate” Facebook page. People throughout the district are replacing downed Denenberg signs, making phone calls from their homes, handing out literature at super markets and train stations, uniting and growing a community movement to let people know that, despite of what others are leading you to believe, we do have a choice. Dave Denenberg is on the ballot and when he wins, will become our next senator.
At the North Bellmore American Legion’s breakfast, Dave Denenberg, while delivering Nassau County Proclamations, received a huge round of applause. In Bellmore, Eileen Casazza, President of the Bellmore Preservation Association, is organizing political sign distribution. When asked why she supports Dave, Mrs. Casazza replied, “Dave has always stood up for us. He is on the ballot and everyone should vote for him”.
In Bellmore, Patrick Hoey has been actively supporting Dave. Asked why he still supports him, Mr. Hoey said, “These attacks are nothing more than a political trick by a GOP connected law firm. It’s an attempt to get Mr. Venditto elected while not offering any ideas on how to reduce taxes, create jobs and improve the quality of life for Long Islanders. Dave is on the ballot and I’m voting for him.”
In North Merrick, Claudia Borecky, President of the North and Central Merrick Civic Association, is spreading the word that Dave Denenberg is still on the ballot and reminding people that our votes count. “Dave has never let our community down. He works with all the community leaders to help us protect and preserve our suburban quality of life. Bottom-line, our south shore communities have benefited from having Dave as our legislator and we need an advocate on the state senate with the experience and know how to fight for us in Albany. I am finding that people are tired of the relentless negative campaigns and are happy to learn that they can still vote for Dave Denenberg for state senate.”
In Wantagh, Pam Dempsey, President of the Wantagh Civic Association, is doing all she can to help Dave Denenberg. “Dave has always worked hard for this community without regard to party affiliation. We need someone in Albany who will work in the best interests of the people, not the party.”
Peope are smart. They know dirty politics when they see it. And Venditto’s entire campaign is focused on bullying his way onto the senate by any means necessary – from shirking his legislative responsibilities by excusing himself from a finance committee to avoid having to vote for fee hikes; then, months later, had the Nassau County Legislature, for the first time in history, bypass a finance committee vote on a budget to avoid a meaningful vote on the county’s tax hike; and by orchestrating a move to get Dave off the ballot by having his political cronies bring false allegations against Dave Denenberg. This is dirty politics at its worst. If Venditto is willing to use unabated power to win an election, do we dare think about the lengths he would go to please his party in Albany?
We need an independent voice in Albany who will fight for his constituents, not a candidate whose only qualifications are that he happens to be the son of a town supervisor.
