Crossfit Strong Island Hosts Merrick Ribbon Cutting
Owners says Crossfit offers "something for everyone."

Crossfit Strong Island recently hosted a ribbon cutting at 26 Benson Ln. in Merrick.
Owner Ryan Pastore, a South Freeport resident, told Patch that Crossfit has really picked up during the past year, and business is booming at his location.
Crossfit Strong Island opened last May, and Pastore said that the location is perfect for what the business is trying to accomplish.
"Merrick’s a great area," he said. "It’s a good demographic, has great people and it’s an excellent location for us."
Pastore said that Crossfit is a step-by-step process, but it works with all the major muscle groups in the body.
"Crossfit does everything for you, whether it’s endurance, strength, muscle stamina and builds your core," Pastore said. "There’s definitely something for everyone. We teach you the right way to do it."
Legis. David Denenberg, D-Merrick, was on hand for the ribbon cutting, and he said that a strong variety of businesses in Merrick helps the local taxpayers.
"The more business that we have, and the more vibrant that our downtowns are, is the more that we expand our revenue base," Denenberg said. "The more business, the less homeowners pay."
