The office of Immigration &amp; Refugee Services is recognized by the U.S. Department of Justice to counsel, process, file, and represent clients before the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and EOIR Immigration Court. Our organization provides essential support to Ukrainian Humanitarian parolees through the Ukraine Supplemental Appropriation to Resettlement Agencies (USARA) Program. Through USARA, we help individuals and families achieve stability, economic independence, and successful integration into the community. We serve Ukrainian citizens paroled into the U.S., as well as non-Ukrainians who resided in Ukraine and were paroled into the U.S. between February 24, 2022 and September 30, 2024. An 89-year-old man died after police say a tractor trailer hit him while it was backing up. According to police, after making a delivery on East Meadow Avenue in East Meadow at 2:11 p.m. Tuesday, the driver of a tractor trailer was attempting to back up when he struck the 89-year-old man, from Merrick, who was walking behind the truck. The elderly man was transported to Nassau University Medical Center, but was pronounced dead at 2:28 p.m. The identity of the man is being withheld at this time.
