Blood Brothers tells the story of a poor single mother, Mrs. Johnstone (Glickman), who is struggling to care for her many children. She is dismayed to discover she is pregnant with twins, Mickey (Smestad) and Edward (Silverman), and is relieved when her employer, Mrs. Lyons (Edwards), agrees to take one as her own son. Mrs. Lyons quickly becomes troubled by the amount of time her employee is devoting to Edward, and fires Mrs. Johnstone with a warning: she must never tell anyone that the two are twins, for if twins are separated at birth and later learn of their relationship, they will both die. Seven years later, Mickey and Edward meet and before long they discover that their birthdays are on the same day. They agree to become blood brothers. They live separate lives, yet remain friends, never realizing that they are twins. Tensions rise as the story unfolds and the young men cope with the challenges of growing up. The brothers finally face the truth in a dramatic climax.
The On Tour Company season continues with one more production to conclude its 2010-2011 season: an adaptation of Dominic Cooke’s The Arabian Nights, in May 2011.
