The Community Parent Center and the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District in cooperation with Legislator David Denenberg will be presenting the highly acclaimed “Driving in the Safe Lane” program on Monday, November 7, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. The 90-minute lecture program will be held at the Brookside School in North Merrick. The event is open to the public and pre-registration is requested.
The program brings together a retired police officer, a pediatrician, and the mother of a teen driver who was tragically killed while driving with friends. The program educates parents, new and prospective teen drivers about safety measures, New York State driving laws, and parental responsibilities. Since the program’s inception, it has grown in popularity for its comprehensive approach and impact on those who attend.
Driving in the Safe Lane is funded by a grant from the NYS Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee. The Community Parent Center is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to providing parents and families with education, resource information, and the support they need to raise resilient children who are safe, confident, nonviolent, and drug free.
