A 30-minute, narrated photographic documentary by Michael Fairchild on the Amazon ecosystem will be presented in honor of Earth Day and Long Island Reads.
When Huntington photographer Fairchild embarked on a 10-day Amazon River workshop in Peru, he carefully read Candice Millard's book "River of Doubt". This 2010 "Long Island Reads" pick chronicles Teddy Roosevelt's 1912 fateful expedition on "a Black, uncharted river that snakes through one of the most treacherous jungles in the world." Millard's well researched, readable description of the Amazon ecosystem proved invaluable to Fairchild when he tackled writing the script for this documentary. All are welcome to attend. No registration necessary.
